How to Recognize Someone Born Under Scorpio

They greet you and grip your hand, in friendliness or in challenge... You feel as though they have awakened in you the love of competition and challenge...

The build is upright and the shoulders broad, the hair a steady color and the face unyielding; the gaze is piercing, the nose prominent, and the hands always open except when waiting.

The Scorpio walks nervously and speaks nervously. The impassive face gives you no hint of their impression, and your nerves may burn to find out whether they are happy or troubled.

Their voice has a distinctive ring and an echo that leaves its mark on you, and wherever a Scorpio is found there is a certain crackle in the air, which may be the crackle of love or the exact opposite.

Having read these lines, will you let the Scorpio challenge you to guess their sign?

General Traits of Scorpio

The scorpion, according to the dictionaries, is a nocturnal creature with a curved tail that it uses both to attack and to defend itself, injecting through it a deadly venom that paralyzes the victim and, often, kills it. In the language of the stars, however, the Scorpio is an extraordinary person with extraordinary traits that resemble in many respects those of the creature just described, though far less deadly and truly harmful. Just as the scorpion roams in the stillness and darkness of night, so does the Scorpio person, remaining hidden and secretive by day and night behind an outward mask which the onlooker imagines to be the true face, when in reality it is a false face, separated by a vast gulf from the true face hiding behind it.

Even so, this person can be recognized by two things. First, the piercing eyes, which make one feel uneasy and uncomfortable; and second, the voice, which never passes without leaving a strange impression on the listener, whether it is husky, sharp, or velvety. Add to that an outward appearance that is sharp in every detail. But more important still is the effect a Scorpio has on the atmosphere around them. Any place where they sit, or enter suddenly, becomes something like a field of electricity, magnetism, or atomic energy. In other words, they “crackle” the air, as people usually say.

At birth the Scorpio was influenced by the planet Pluto, which gave them the power to control their facial expressions and inner feelings as they wish. For this reason they can keep their remarkable composure in all circumstances without having to laugh, frown, shout, guffaw, jump, run, or even bend or straighten slightly for one reason or another. And if they seem otherwise at times, the cause is a purpose of their own that has led them to play their new role deliberately and with premeditation, which proves what we said before: that the Scorpio’s outward face is only a false face, separated by a vast gulf from the true one.

The clearest thing about this person is the “ego.” They know exactly who they are and what they want from themselves and from others. For that reason it is impossible to sway them with a word of praise or blame, and because they refuse to court favor, whether from them or toward them, they often pronounce their judgments with a wounding honesty. Their acquaintances fall into two groups: their friends, who admire and are attached to them, and their bitter enemies. Between the two groups there is absolutely no one, because it is hard for anyone to remain indifferent toward them. The astronomers of old used to symbolize those born under Scorpio with a serpent, a lizard, or sometimes an eagle, no doubt because of the many roles and personalities they succeed in playing. According to circumstances and situations, they are at times a poisonous scorpion that harms merely for pleasure and does not shrink from harming itself, at other times a stunted, spiteful lizard living in darkness and fear, and sometimes the scorpion or lizard turns into a magnificent eagle soaring through the skies, defying failure, illness, and poverty, even death itself. Here the Scorpio reaches the highest degrees of courage, optimism, and greatness.

Their courage is in fact proverbial. They are the person of the hour in times of war, earthquake, fire, and every disaster that challenges human courage and life. Their devotion to their work, family, and friends drives them to throw themselves into peril without hesitation if they know their death will save others. It may seem unbelievable, but it is true: this person, strong and domineering to the extreme, sometimes clings to religion, delves into the secrets of life and death, protects children and the weak, and heals sick souls and bodies, just like the saints in their sacrifice and giving. Conversely, opposite circumstances may turn them into a devil who sows corruption and evil and repays an injury many times over; and if they have no chance to take revenge, they keep silent under the wrong against their will and feel a deep bitterness that may, in time, make them truly ill.

So this person’s health depends to a great extent on their mood and living conditions. They may fall ill from overeating, overdrinking, smoking, and sometimes addiction to drugs and medicines, but they can also recover through their strong will. They must also guard against the danger of fire, explosives, toxic gases, atomic radiation, and other hazards toward which the challenging side of their nature is driven and drawn.

The Scorpio person can excel in any work they practice, especially surgery, politics, music composition, acting, literature, espionage, and police work, even grave-digging. Their ambition is sure to bring them where they aspire to be, although they advance toward their goals with great caution and patience, showing no sign of concern or rivalry. On the other hand, their interest in religion may turn into an interest in magic, astrology, palm reading, and other sciences that were widespread in the past. It is said that in ancient astronomy this sign symbolizes resurrection and the Day of Judgment, and for this reason it was widely believed that a Scorpio’s birth is always accompanied by the death of one of their relatives, either in the year before the birth or in the year after it.

The Scorpio Man

The principle that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure holds true for this man. This is our advice to everyone dealing with the Scorpio man in general, and to women in particular. It is wise for her to arm herself with a protective shield before trying to approach him, near or far, because approaching him carries the risk of explosion or, at least, of moral burning. It is hard for anyone to believe such talk when the man appears so calm and serene. But what he shows and what he hides are worlds apart. What shows is only a false mask meant to mislead others, while what he hides is his truth, which can be summed up in one word: emotion.

Some think the Scorpio man is a good-natured person bordering on naive, while others think he is spiteful and fond of treachery. In reality he is neither. He is exactly a person born with sharp intelligence, will, and emotion all at once, and so he is hard to defeat, however much some may try. If someone goes too far in offending him, he answers by exploding and smashing everything around him. The strongest thing about this strong man is his sharp eyes, which can pierce the depths of anyone and instill in them whatever thoughts and feelings he wants. This domineering, strong-willed person aims at the truth wherever it lies, whether in life, death, illness, love, or religion, and therefore believes in depth and hates superficiality to the utmost; perhaps only his hatred of loss equals it, for if he loses something, however trivial or small, he seethes inside to the point of pain or illness without batting an eyelid.

The Scorpio man is either devout or atheist, or has enough deliberate hypocrisy to play both roles at once. The rules he lives by are always of his own making. His goals are clear, and so are the paths to reach them. In pursuit of them he pays no heed to hardships, dangers, or even death. This man is hard to please in choosing friends, for no reason other than that he seeks the highest standards in his relations with others, and he sometimes does not hesitate to use harshness and sadistic methods even with the woman he loves. Despite that, he is intensely jealous over her and suffers if she tries to break free of him, but he hides his pain and meets her mistakes with violence and defiance, even if it means sacrificing his heart and his happiness. By contrast, her jealousy does not bother him at all and does not stop him from taking an interest in other women, although he is very susceptible to flattery and flirtation, and it is rare, if not impossible, for him to lose control of himself in romantic situations.

It is natural for the Scorpio man to be a strict father despite his deep love for his children. He does not allow them to overstep the bounds of manners and obedience with him, but at the same time he teaches them self-respect and self-reliance. They may suffer inwardly because of his cold exterior, but they surely hold him in high regard and trust his words and deeds blindly.

Returning to this man’s relationship with his wife, we find it built on mastery on his side and obedience on hers. That is the principle from which he never departs in his emotional life. And she, by accepting that principle, gains privileges that no other woman receives in love. It is enough to know that happiness and contentment turn her husband from a venomous scorpion into a magnificent eagle soaring through the skies, not alone but always in her company, and that he can introduce her to secrets and delights unknown to all those who lack his great mettle and clay.

The Scorpio Woman

Her beauty is magnetic and “crackling,” as hard to explain as it is to resist. Her confidence and pride in herself are so great that she feels sorry to be a woman, not because she dislikes her femininity but because a man usually has more freedom and more opportunities. Despite her excessive charm, she refuses to be content with the role of the female, certain that she can do far more than that. Whatever strangeness, carelessness, or indifference she shows, whether in her dress, her talk, or her behavior, she remains in everyone’s eyes the truest model of the dangerous woman with captivating eyes and a hidden manner. Her title in French is the “femme fatale,” which always recalls the image of the beautiful spy Mata Hari, who once turned the heads of armies and governments.

The Scorpio woman plays different roles well and succeeds in reaching her goals despite all the small and large obstacles that may cross her path. Her strongest weapon is the sixth sense that women have in general and that she possesses in particular, which allows her to read thoughts, anticipate events, and solve riddles as if she were a true sorceress. It is not hard for one like her to ensnare a man, any man, and yet what she hates most in men in general is weakness. She is drawn, in turn, to the handsome, ambitious, brave, intelligent, profound man with an iron will. In other words, she refuses to give her heart to anyone but the superior man known as “Superman.”

This woman prefers to marry the one she loves, and if she cannot, for one reason or another, she is content to be a friend or a mistress, unconcerned with public opinion. By resisting that well-known social hypocrisy, she proves herself more virtuous than many lawful wives. Among her great merits as a wife is that she does not insist on leading, despite all the qualities that qualify her for that role, and that she does not hesitate to support her husband on the road to success and fame. On the other hand, she is intensely jealous over her beloved but pretends the opposite. This love of secrecy makes her keep a part of her heart and thoughts to herself, although in love she is faithful and devoted to the utmost. It is hard for any other woman to match her in the intensity and depth of feeling. As she loves intensely, she also is jealous intensely and hates intensely without showing the slightest change; but when she can bear no more, she explodes like a bomb and starts smashing, tearing, and wrenching everything within reach. Then, with astonishing speed, she regains her composure and cool appearance, so that no one believes those acts came from her.

The curiosity of the woman born under Scorpio puts her into experiences where she sometimes plunges in up to her ears without feeling any hesitation or fear. Her aim, in fact, is to gain complete knowledge, even if it brings about her ruin. Strangely, she emerges each time stronger and tougher. Stranger still, her conduct arouses no one’s suspicion, nor does it cost her any of her self-esteem. If we add to these traits her well-known possessiveness, we understand the reasons why a man fails to free himself from her hold, however hard he tries.

This woman succeeds as the wife of a sailor, soldier, or politician, and in running her home, which as a whole reveals refined taste, firm order, and complete comfort. She is also a tender mother despite her cool exterior, watching over her children’s comfort, developing their talents and inclinations, and instilling in them courage, initiative, and self-reliance.

In other words, she is a woman both thrilling and dangerous at once, who answers an injury many times over and refuses to give up those she loves. If a man truly succeeds in freeing himself from her, he may well find her in his dreams night after night. How? We do not know. All we know is that she resembles the fairies and witches we read about in novels or hear of in folk tales.

The Scorpio Child

The Scorpio child is born more fully formed than in other signs, and seems firmer in resolve and calmer in spirit than children of the same age. The first thing that draws attention is their commanding eyes, despite the frailty and innocence of childhood. If the mother does not recognize their toughness, at least, and does not meet it from the start with something tougher, the child becomes closer to a venomous scorpion than a dutiful son; and if, besides firmness in dealing with them, she does not give them enough love, they turn into a frightened, oppressed lizard. So we find that the child of Scorpio has two paths before them, one high and one low, so to speak, and the choice of either depends largely on the kind of upbringing they receive from the beginning.

Raising this child calls for a hand of iron and a heart full of love and patience. Among the qualities they must grow accustomed to from early on are consideration for the weak, respect for the law, forgiveness of offense, and acceptance of loss with a constructive sporting spirit. The other qualities that are born with them and need no nurturing are boldness, frankness, uprightness, and charm.

Despite their frankness, this child refuses to reveal all their private matters, keeping some to themselves; they also refuse to give up their belongings and possessions, preferring to keep them in some place or corner that is theirs alone, apart from the rest of the family. Their undeniable courage makes them able to endure severe physical pain without the least fear or tears. Another undeniable thing is their loyalty to family and friends on one side, and their rigidity and harshness with others on the other.

The Scorpio child is also sharp of mind and memory, absorbing lessons with remarkable ease, especially when they find a good teacher. With a little supervision and help they reach the top among their peers and classmates. Their only fault is a tendency to rebel against rules at times. They should be diverted from this with sports and reading, especially books on chemistry and physics and stories about ghosts, jinn, and sorcerers, and the like. Among the gifts dearest to this child is a microscope, with which they can discover the truth of things.

Beneath a veil of calm and coldness, the Scorpio child hides a feeling of anxiety that constantly haunts them. And since they are quick to react without others realizing it, they suffer to the point of illness if anything disturbs the peace of their home and family. Even so, they prefer horror films and stories of jinn and sorcerers, as we mentioned before. They are also strongly drawn to various drugs and medicines, and for this reason these should be kept out of their reach.

The Scorpio child dreams of becoming a sailor, firefighter, space engineer, clergyman, ruler, or even president of the country. In any case, whatever those dreams may be, they must never be met with mockery and ridicule, because the child can undoubtedly achieve them. But their sharp self-sufficiency and neglect of others must be tempered so that they learn, before it is too late, that the basis of happiness is sharing opinions and exchanging affection.

The Scorpio Manager

Two things the Scorpio man cannot do without in his professional life: wisdom and authority. In his tireless pursuit of them he seems to say, “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” In roughly this manner he handles matters and deals with employees and workers.

The most important thing in his eyes is knowledge: knowledge of the secret of existence and extinction and all that stretches between them. In pursuit of that knowledge he arms himself with boundless curiosity and a remarkable ability to penetrate souls, strip truths bare, and dive into the farthest depths of the universe. Despite the loftiness and sharpness of these aims, he appears calm and sober, sparing in movement, his motives and purposes unknown.

When he is pleased with someone, he does everything he can to support them and bring them to the top, and when he is angry with someone, every attempt and mediation fails, and the unlucky employee finds himself dismissed. Clearly he seeks to work only with the outstanding, and always has the best team in every respect. Those who like him like him with devotion and dedication, and those who do not respect him and keep their distance. His eyes work like radar in any case, guiding people to the distance they should keep from him. But it would be wrong to think that this man’s appearance is as fearsome as his psyche. On the contrary, he is handsome of face and calm of features, despite the mystery of his smile and the irresistible charm of his eyes.

And since he is able to control the emotions of others, they find themselves compelled to respect him and to devote themselves to him, believing him the kindest and most loyal employer there has ever been. He in turn deserves that view from them, because he is intelligent, honest, and gifted to the utmost. He is also, without doubt, the man for difficulties, trials, and intractable cases. Then he lifts off his face the masks with which he has long deceived people and goes to work like ten men at once. When this new role is over, he regains his calm as though nothing had happened, like “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.”

One piece of advice is essential for anyone working with a Scorpio employer: do not flatter him too much, lest you arouse his suspicion. He is known for his delicate sensitivity to the simplest remarks and comments, just as he is known for the violence of his response to offense. On the other hand, anyone who tries to win his favor should be as exact as he is in financial dealings and should face illness, poverty, and failure, as he does, with the courage of a gallant knight.

In all the traits of the Scorpio man there is something lofty and sublime, but the loftiest thing in him is his honesty toward himself and toward others, despite all the masks he likes to wear.

The Scorpio Employee

Have you ever met an employee or worker whose manner suggests complete calm, even rigidity, along with self-confidence, self-knowledge, and clarity of vision? Then know that he was surely born under Scorpio. Try to get to know him better and you will find that he always has a clear, detailed work plan and definite goals, and few, even rare, excuses for absence, illness, or anything else; that he is extremely secretive about his private life, in control of himself, honest with himself and with others, and able to strip truths bare wherever they are found.

A person with such traits can build his life or destroy it with equal ease and in the manner he chooses. His great boldness goes beyond interfering in his own affairs to those of others, if need be, for he believes that the end always justifies the means, and if there is one thing he does not know, it is an inferiority complex, unless harsh events in his childhood or early youth forced him to turn into a cowardly, complexed lizard. Even after this transformation he refuses to remain silent under injustice and lurks in corners, waiting for the chance to return to the ranks of the venomous scorpions or the fierce eagles.

How this employee behaves with his superiors depends on how much he needs them and what kind of need it is. He may answer every offense with more, or with indifference, or with complete respect and total silence. He knows how to get what he wants when necessary, and he knows that success has a price he must pay in full; yet his philosophy bears a stamp of honor and uprightness, for he says in effect: whoever pays the price gains the benefit, and whoever refuses to pay the price must refuse the benefit from the start. This approach, in thought and in execution, does not stop him from giving his superiors his complete and unconditional trust and loyalty if he finds they truly deserve it.

The Scorpio employee is patient, persevering, and gifted with a sharp memory that never errs, which allows him to choose the hour and manner of revenge. But in return he is serious and thorough in his work, never straying a hair’s breadth from his goals and never hesitating before difficulties and obstacles. He has great vital energy that lets him keep working without the slightest fatigue or weariness. The jobs in which he succeeds most include surgery, psychology, journalism, exploration, espionage, research, and the secret police. Whatever his field, he is the kind who always acquires knowledge, so no day passes without his gaining something that leaves him in a better position than before. He is also the kind who is strongly drawn to riddles, puzzles, and everything mysterious and incomprehensible.

This man spends his private life according to principles and rules of his own making, and refuses to change them except when he wishes and in the way he wants. When he feels that his superiors or colleagues intend to meddle in his affairs, he takes a rigid stance or leaves his job for good, despite all the gains he may have made. Is there not in this the utmost honesty, at least with himself?
