How to Recognize Someone Born Under Sagittarius

Simple, spontaneous, and unaffected in speech, the Sagittarius has an open face, a large head, and shining eyes. They are tall and athletic in appearance, though they care nothing for sports; what is more, their walk lacks grace, and you may find them stumbling and knocking over whatever stands in their path.

When they talk to you, you find they express themselves with both words and gestures, and they rarely look into your eyes, directing their gaze elsewhere instead. They are frank, wounding in their frankness, and say what they have to say without regret, even if unintentionally.

Do not doubt them, for they express with innocence what is on their mind; everything in their heart is ready on their tongue.

General Traits of Sagittarius

In every cheerful, merry gathering there is usually a center of attention, and there is a nine-in-ten chance that this person was born under Sagittarius. If it also turns out that they have an open face and a broad forehead, and make awkward, ungraceful movements, you can then be sure they were born under Sagittarius.

All the traits this person holds qualify them to be a big child. They are cheerful, truthful, frank, and kind-hearted; they express what is on their mind with utter innocence, refuse to use roundabout methods, embarrass others, and are surprised by their resentment; they apologize for their slips, which they forget after a while and then repeat, and so on... They have an athletic look that resembles, somewhat, a horse or a colt, especially with the lock of hair hanging over the forehead like a mane, which they are always tossing back with a movement of the head or the hand, a habit that stays with them into old age, even after baldness.

This person is quick in movement and quick to move about, hates inertia, and seems to be heading in a certain direction or chasing some goal. But their movements and walk generally lack grace or discipline, and they often trip over their own steps or knock over things that lie in the path of their arms. Even so, they give the impression of being an athlete. They do in fact live the life of athletes, loving the open air and riding in cars, bicycles, and airplanes, and they may well enter speed races out of their fondness for them; they also love animals, especially dogs and horses. Frankness is an essential trait of the Sagittarius native, indeed the foundation of their personality, just as it is with Scorpio, with one great difference: the Scorpio native strips truths bare deliberately, with premeditation and sure knowledge of the consequences, whereas the Sagittarius native resorts to honesty out of innocence, kindness, social unpolish, and complete ignorance of the consequences. For this reason they often feel remorse and regret if their actions cause any harm or injury. Yet they always fail to refine their ways and return, again and again, to their astonishing frankness with everyone without exception and with no regard for the consequences of such behavior. On the other hand, it is hard for many people to hold a grudge against them for long because of their transparency, innocence, and good intentions; their main purpose is really to bring cheer and consolation to hearts, and if the results turn out the opposite of what was expected, they cannot be accused of malice, which is utterly foreign to them. All that can be said is that they are reckless, shooting their arrows at random so that they hit whom they hit and miss whom they miss, although the arrows kill no one, being free of any trace of the poisons that the Sagittarius native knows nothing about.

The Sagittarius person is symbolized by fire, and it is said that the planet Jupiter has a great influence on their temperament, which explains their boldness, daring, frankness, and love of talking. If someone offends their dignity, for example, they answer at once, relying on their sharp tongue and strong fist alike. They are the kind who refuse help or flight in times of hardship, but as soon as they have avenged themselves, they regain both their calm and their innocence, and do not hesitate to compensate their enemy for what they inflicted. It may be said that what angers them most and makes them lose control is being accused of lying or dishonesty.

The Sagittarius native enjoys a perpetual childhood that makes them reject seriousness in life, although they accept duty and responsibility and perform them very well. The reason is that seriousness weighs on them and erases part of their natural happiness and joy; so does isolation, which sometimes makes them truly ill. But their health is generally excellent, as are their energy and vitality, which stay with them until the end of their life. They hate illness in any case, and hate hospitals and long treatment, and for this reason they recover with astonishing speed, which their optimism and faith in a better tomorrow also guarantee.

This person inclines toward dancing, singing, and acting, and takes an interest in religious matters early in life, then turns to doubt and weak faith, and may well become an atheist at some point. The blood of adventure and gambling runs in their veins, and they often turn to trying their luck at the green baize table, the stock exchange, or racetracks of every kind. They love and always seek to fall into experience, but they fear marriage and shun it, and if they give in, it is after long thought and hesitation. Among their fine qualities are generosity, hospitality, perseverance, and hitting the mark. Among their faults are overeating and overdrinking, sometimes addiction to liquor, and an inability to keep secrets. Despite a sharp memory that retains the finest details, they sometimes forget where they put their coat five minutes ago.

But the most charming thing about them is their way of telling anecdotes and jokes. They often stumble over a word or movement that makes others laugh, and they join in the laughter in turn, thinking it was their wit that delighted them and not their slips, which they do not notice anyway. Yet that endearing childlike quality does not stop them from answering harshly and fiercely anyone who tries to touch their dignity or principles. Then they loose their arrows with all the concentration and skill they have and hit the target at exactly the point they want.

The Sagittarius native is, as is well known, depicted as a creature half human and half horse. What is meant is that in pursuing their goals they always stay in the lead. How? No one knows exactly. The reason may be their many gifts, or their good luck, or both. And when they are asked about it, they sum up the whole matter by joking that life is a “circus” and that they are its first clown.

The Sagittarius Man

Wherever there is a Sagittarius man, there is a crowd gathered around him. If we add to this crowd of many friends and few enemies the Sagittarius man’s great goals and his habit of acting and clowning, we find that the place of family in his life is relatively small, or so its members imagine, while he strongly denies it.

This person is optimistic to the point of a blind faith in people and circumstances, and to the point of making light of hardships and crises, or interpreting them as he pleases. Such optimism must carry some danger for the Sagittarius man, as it makes him trust those who do not deserve trust or set his foot where it should not be set. But what is remarkable is the vitality that keeps him moving forward and the sporting spirit that makes him accept loss willingly. Such are the influences of the planet Jupiter, which grants him great luck despite every stumble.

We said that the Sagittarius man’s friends are many, but even among them there are those who sometimes wish to kill him as payment for his roughness and tactlessness. Yet his mistakes are forgiven with astonishing speed because of his kind heart and pure intentions. It is said that his words and arrows rarely miss. When he wants to hit the target, he succeeds with a precision that embarrasses others. His extreme frankness is present even in love, although he treats his romantic affairs superficially, far from the goal of marriage, which he fears and shuns. And although he likes flirting and resorts to it when needed, his relations with women rest on many foundations other than sex. He values intelligence alongside beauty, and prefers to keep his freedom and independence no matter how much he loves a particular woman.

Some advice to the woman who ties her fate to this man: give him your complete trust, refrain from showing jealousy whatever he does, and do not resort to grumbling and complaining in front of him, whatever the reasons. She should love nature, animals, and sports as he does, and should also be generous, enthusiastic, and impulsive like him, and should not mock his great ideas and lofty aims, however fanciful and far from reality they may seem.

The Sagittarius man loses interest in his family after marriage, so that only a superficial relationship remains, one that does not allow them to interfere in his affairs, and especially in the affairs of his wife. In return, he tries to build with his life partner an intimate relationship founded on sharing everything. So she, for her part, must take an interest in sports news, world affairs, and races of every kind, read magazines and newspapers, be cheerful and open, and not abandon realism even in moments of emotion and passion.

On this basis alone this man stays with his wife. He takes her with him wherever he goes, and spends on her generously from his money, though nothing stops him from criticizing her with open frankness, and though his generosity extends beyond her to every kind of gambling, such as the green baize table, the races, the stock exchange, and other games of chance, of which he has plenty of luck.

This man loves his children once they have grown a little and are old enough to go with him on outings, trips, and the like. He is more a friend and companion to them than a father. He often forgives their mistakes and slips out of his belief that they will be better in the future. However, lying provokes his anger and fury to the utmost. His extreme frankness, in turn, provokes his children’s fury just as lying does his.

In short, the Sagittarius man is an honest, bold, courageous person with a touch of madness that drives him into error. It is hard for people in general, and his wife in particular, to hold a grudge against him. How could you hold a grudge against someone whose heart holds such great love?

The Sagittarius Woman

Between this woman and beating around the bush there is entrenched enmity. How could there not be, when she believes with all her heart that the straight line is the shortest path to the goal? And since uprightness is in her nature, she makes remarks, asks questions, and gives replies that embarrass everyone in general and men in particular, because they come suddenly and in a way he did not expect. Even so, those who know her well affirm that she could, if she wished, capture every heart without exception.

The woman born under Sagittarius is very optimistic, but her optimism is always joined to sound logic, not to lying, which she refuses whatever the circumstances and motives. And since she is completely honest, she does not hesitate to admit before her family and relatives that she prefers kinship of the spirit to kinship of blood, in which she does not believe much. And being honest too, she breaks away early from the family home and becomes independent on her own, living a life full of movement and activity. She goes on outings, plays sports, travels, meets friends, pursues goals, and performs services, provided nothing is imposed on her. She hates pressures and restrictions and does not hesitate to face them with a sharp, biting tongue that does not distinguish one person from another. Even her mother, who carried and raised her, fails to force her into something she is not fully convinced of.

This woman hates the weak man who has lost his will, and yet she refuses to dissolve in the personality of a strong man, however strong and domineering. She often confuses love with friendship. If she feels affection for someone, she opens her heart to him without hesitation. There is a roughness in her honesty that disturbs some, who accuse her of either malice and cunning or complete foolishness. In reality, though, she is intelligent, kind, and very logical. And if she behaves in this way, which not everyone approves of, it is because she is fully convinced of her innocence and good conduct, and so pays no heed to the rumors and accusations that sometimes follow her.

This woman hesitates before the idea of marriage and accepts it only after she feels an overwhelming love and strong attraction toward a man whom she wishes to share everything with, even imitate in everything. She sometimes wears his clothes, accompanies him on hunting trips, outings, and travel, and laughs at his anecdotes, yet she keeps all the signs of femininity and gentleness. Whoever knows her truly knows that she is easily broken, acts with a child’s innocence, becomes so flustered that she sometimes trips as she walks, and cannot stop herself from crying in emotional situations of every kind.

This woman’s appetite is great. She loves good food and drink, and wishes to frequent luxurious restaurants whenever she gets the chance. She also loves fine clothes, travel (first class, of course), lights, fame, and extravagance, believing that money is a means, not an end. Although she hates housework and prefers working outside, she plays the role of hostess and homemaker very well. Among her best qualities in this area are cheerfulness, generosity, and not distinguishing among guests, however different their social and financial circumstances. Among her few faults is a sharp tongue if her dignity is touched. But luckily for her and for others, she is born to forget and forgive, and so there is no place in her heart for anger or long-lasting resentment.

Her children love her to the point of worship, and frolic with her as if they were in a real “circus.” They treat her as a brother treats a brother, and learn from her honesty, uprightness, and cheerfulness, though sometimes they feel uneasy and flustered because of her boundless frankness. As for her husband, he receives from her love, trust, and complete loyalty without condition, except that she asks for a little freedom and individuality.

In short, the Sagittarius woman is a thrilling person to the utmost. Besides her fine qualities, she has a light spirit that brings smiles and cheer to every face and wipes boredom and weariness from hearts. And this alone counts as a virtue in husbands’ eyes.

The Sagittarius Child

The Sagittarius child is a little clown who loves to draw attention and bring joy to the hearts of those around them. If neglected or left alone, they immediately start crying to express their protest, or rush toward any sound or smell that signals the presence of people. And if no companion or friend is available, they turn to keeping company with a doll or a pet that gives them the warmth and reassurance others have withheld.

Contact with people of all ages is a main nourishment for the Sagittarius child, just like food and drink, and if we add to that need an intense curiosity about every matter and issue, we understand why they pursue grown-ups and pour out an unending stream of questions. “Why” is a word they repeat from morning to night, wanting through it to know everything without exception. God, life, death, birth, laws and rules: all these issues interest them and demand frank, honest answers from those who know more and are better informed. If these people refuse to give a full explanation, the child gets angry and threatens to rebel against their orders.

The child born under Sagittarius loves nature, the open air, sports, and hunting, and often roams the fields and the shore in the company of a friendly dog and a gun or net with which to catch birds or fish. They also often fall during these outings and come back with bruises and cuts. This child is in fact prone to physical and emotional stumbles because of their gaze toward the heights and their preoccupation with the great dreams that visit them, most of which concern their future. At that stage of childhood they dream of becoming a monk, a hermit, or a man of religion. But as they grow up, they gradually turn to a kind of argumentative thinking that leads them to doubt, atheism, or the study of other religions in the hope of finding the complete truth in them.

One of the Sagittarius child’s deepest wishes is to win their family’s complete trust at the very time they are seeking to break free of them. For example, if placed in a boarding school or sent to another country to study, days may pass without them sending a word to reassure their family, but this behavior does not stem from malice or ill will. On the other hand, they attach themselves to their school and peers with complete ease, and succeed in their studies thanks to their intelligence, curiosity, and the many questions they ask, which makes them grasp modern teaching methods better than others. They truly deserve the attention of a flexible teacher with a rich imagination, and when they find one, the child shows great talents coupled with the best qualities such as honesty, uprightness, and trustworthiness. If they commit some deliberate mistakes and slips, it is a response to others’ ill treatment and lack of trust in them.

The Sagittarius child tends toward generosity and sometimes extravagance. So it is their parents’ duty to accustom them from an early age to moderation and to living within a set budget; it is also their duty to teach them to respect them, to consider their feelings, and not to hurt their dignity with their well-known innate frankness. Other subjects that parents and teachers should explain to the Sagittarius child are sex, pregnancy, childbirth, and the like. The reason is their early interest in the opposite sex, which may sometimes entangle them if they are not armed with the necessary knowledge and experience.

If we put the Sagittarius native’s virtues and faults in the two pans of a scale, we find that the virtues far outweigh the faults, which lets us affirm that this is a wonderful child in every sense of the word. It is enough to know that luck is on their side, whatever they say or do.

The Sagittarius Manager

At first glance the Sagittarius man appears an eccentric, unlike other known businessmen. Those around him often wonder whether his behavior deserves laughter or anger. While some think him naive and short on sense, others affirm that he is a genius. But in reality he is neither, being intelligent on one side and “Quixotic” on the other. In any case, if his employees do not leave him after a week of working with him, there is a strong chance they will stay with him a long time.

This person raises the banner of frankness high in all his work and stances. He praises those who work with him as easily as he criticizes their mistakes. This enthusiasm on his part makes the competent hopeful. But days and months may pass without his achieving anything for them, despite the promises he makes. In fact his memory is weak not only about promises but also about appointments, because he is busy with travel, moving about, sports, and various hobbies, which leaves him no room to attend to the minutiae of the work and the problems of those working with him.

The language closest to his mind is the language of logic. If his employees manage to reach an understanding with him through it, he becomes cheerful, happy, and generous in granting leave, bonuses, and so on. By contrast, it greatly upsets him when people deny his good deeds and cling to his faults, even when these are perfectly plain. This does not mean he calls for hypocrisy and lying; he is the furthest of people from those two traits and the most devoted to the truth, however painful. Despite his roughness, he has a gentle democratic spirit that wins him friends from all groups and classes.

Besides crowds of companions, the Sagittarius man surrounds himself with many enjoyable things, among them good food, fine drink, pets, packed suitcases, bright lights, creative ideas, and lofty aims. The things he keeps at a great distance are injustice, cruelty, hypocrisy, spite, and selfishness. He appears outwardly to think and perceive little, but whoever knows him well knows he has a strong intuition (except in love) thanks to which he comes safely through crises. Although he neglects some marginal matters, he never forgets the most important facts and figures concerning the heart of his work. And despite his undeniable kindness, he remains a person of ambition, independence, and individuality that borders on self-love.

Those who work with him often wonder about his true nature without arriving at an answer. All they know for certain is that working with him is utterly exciting and thrilling.

The Sagittarius Employee

His presence in institutions and companies is a delight and a consolation to all the employees and staff, despite his sharp tongue, flustered movements, and curiosity that never stops asking questions. If his acquaintances were asked to sum up his traits in a few words, they would say that he is the model of the cheerful, optimistic man who lives for the day and believes in his luck every day.

The employee born under Sagittarius appears shy, superficial, reckless, and prone to physical and mental stumbles. That is his outward side; his inner side, watched over by the planet Jupiter, is the exact opposite. How could he be superficial when he has such a measure of intuition and sound logic? How could he be accused of shyness when he does not hesitate to criticize his colleagues and superiors if they make mistakes? And is there any need to speak of his stumbles when luck supports him to this extent? Who is he, then, exactly?

The employee who belongs to Sagittarius is an impulsive person who works fast and does it better than others. He takes pride in his gifts without the least embarrassment, has complete confidence in himself, does not lie, deceive, or hold grudges, but wounds with his tactlessness and provokes irritation by asking many questions and trying to draw attention. He hates inertia, loves travel and moving about, and hopes his superiors will send him from city to city and country to country. His love of journeys makes him succeed as a traveling salesman, though he is prone to some errors because of his haste and impulsiveness.

The employee belonging to Sagittarius cares more about his own income than about the future of the company he works for. For this reason he rejects promises, however tempting, and holds fast to immediate recognition, however trivial. His love of money does not mean he sees it as a mere end. In his eyes it is the means to a decent life and a fitting standard. And being generous by nature, he hates stinginess in people in general and in his employer in particular. If the latter treats him like a miser, he leaves without regret. The second thing that drives him to leave a job without hesitation is having his character attacked and being accused of lying or lack of honor, though he is kind-hearted and quickly forgets an offense, especially when he can answer it with his well-known violence and sharp tongue.

If an employer feels a pressing need to dismiss this employee at some point, it is better for him to restrain his anger and reconsider the man with complete honesty and objectivity. He will then discover that the man has many times more virtues than faults. What remains is his frankness, which can be borne. And this very trait demands of his superior an excellent sporting spirit.
