How to Recognize Someone Born Under Gemini

Have you spotted them? They are the most restless of everyone present, unable to sit on a single chair, always moving about. They may knit their brows while their lips smile at you. Slender and tending more toward tall than short, they have small, sharply cut facial features, though the forehead is prominent, the nose straight and the lips thin. Their secret lies in their eyes, which settle on nothing for more than a few seconds, and in which there is a sparkle and a question to which you may find no answer.

In talking with them you will be certain of their quick wit and their ability both to listen and to speak, and you will notice that they are curious, and that they sometimes annoy you with a sharp tongue. Has someone come to mind?

General Traits of Gemini

If you look at someone born under Gemini and are told that you are seeing two separate and completely different people, do not blame your eyes or accuse yourself of madness, for Gemini is in truth the sign of duality. The Gemini is said to be mercurial by nature. The word derives from the well-known metal mercury and from the planet Mercury, which governs those born under this sign. What is meant by mercurial is that it is very hard, if not impossible, to pin down what passes through a Gemini’s mind or what is drawn on their features in any single moment. It may be love or hatred, intelligence or idealism, recklessness or regret, joy or boredom, or all these feelings together. They chase one another inside them and across their outward appearance just as scenes of light follow one another in the modern psychedelic fashion. To keep up with them, whether physically or mentally, takes your breath away and makes you dizzy, for they change their clothes, their work, their loves and their whereabouts at the same speed at which they change their opinions and ideas. This unique trait shows itself especially in the way they read. They read at astonishing speed, often starting with the last page and then working backward, flipping pages nervously, and it is not unlikely that they will suddenly feel bored and put the book down while still in the middle.

Anyone wishing to find where one born under this sign is to be found should go wherever there is human contact and mingling: to broadcasting houses, television companies, public relations firms, publishing houses, exhibition halls and reception rooms. There, in one of those places, he finds them alert and enthusiastic, as if giving off waves or vibrations of nervous energy and dynamism. Quick to speak, quick to listen, quick to decide. They know exactly what they want, at least at the last moment.

The Gemini is intelligent, quick-witted, sharp-tongued – when they wish – curious and inquisitive, able to do two things or more at once and faster than someone doing a single task. They hate routine and order – except when influenced by another sign such as Virgo – and are not bound by appointments. They are distracted from friends by anything that might excite them, and yet their mistakes are forgiven without the slightest difficulty.

They are also a brilliant conversationalist with an unmatched fluency of tongue, able to hide their intentions, acting contrary to what they conceal. They are skilled in politics, and so good at the art of persuasion that they can change others’ convictions. Gifted in editing and authorship, they write plays, stories, lectures, advertisements and documents with ease. They hate two things: answering letters and being exposed to the story of their life. They prefer to sign with pen names. Their vocabulary is rich, and none can match them in this field. They speak several languages. They excel at lying but refuse it because of their idealism. If they distort the facts, the cause is the breadth of their imagination. Their love of mockery leads them to commit errors on purpose, and in very rare cases it takes them as far as crime. And since the Gemini’s mind works constantly, their need for sleep is doubled, yet insomnia often afflicts them. Their taut nerves and worn-out cells demand rest and renewal. Sunshine, fresh air and pollution-free surroundings do them good. Their aims are many and diverse. They aspire to money, fame, love and other things that always drive them forward. The unknown fascinates them, and with it travel and the exploration of everything new and out of reach. In short, the Gemini is intelligent, quick-witted, gentle, and short on patience and perseverance. Their passions and feelings are in constant conflict, and their favorite friend is their other half: did we not say at the beginning that they are two persons?

The Gemini Man

Among the most prominent traits of the Gemini man are restlessness and unwillingness to be tied down. These two features must never leave the mind of the woman who intends to bind her fate to that of a husband of this kind, and she must know that love in his eyes is one thing and giving way to his own mood is another. This theory alone is enough to wreck the happiest and most stable of homes, unless the wife’s love, devotion and readiness for sacrifice reach their utmost. In that case her life turns into lasting bliss, because the Gemini man has qualities rarely found in those born under other signs. It is enough that time passes by his side in the blink of an eye, and that monotony and boredom vanish from his world for good. And if he says to his wife “I love you,” he says it with dozens of reasons and tones. In his invitations to her there is novelty beyond compare. He leads her to restaurants, theaters, amusement houses, museums, the seashore and the mountains, and to other places that would never cross her mind. He talks to her about every matter and subject, because by virtue of his reading and general culture he knows a great deal and is hardly ignorant of anything. Alongside that, it is not unlikely that he will leave his house hoping to return in an hour and then days pass while he is gone, or that he will seem preoccupied, his gaze wandering, present in body only, leaving his wife to wonder about the reasons and to calculate a thousand possibilities.

The Gemini man – whether as a lover, friend or husband – is clever, merry, exciting, quick to tire, airy and changeable. If he neglects his friends or forgets them entirely, the cause is not lack of loyalty but changes that come over his psyche and leave him in need of a new way of living. For this reason, too, it is hard for him to cling to the past, whether memories or places or anything else.

This man hates isolation and solitude for long periods and prefers mixing with varied groups of people. He is an adroit conversationalist, keenly observant and quick-witted, lending cheer and delight to every gathering. Had he the choice, he would marry more than once. And since the matter is not so simple, he compensates with other things of which he acquires pairs, such as houses, cars, hobbies and more. This duality shows itself in matters of money too, for he appears at times generous to the utmost and at others miserly to the point of stinginess.

The Gemini man is loved by children in general and by his own children in particular. He has intimate relationships with them based on trust, openness and the exchange of opinions and information. Among his few failings as a father are his failure to impose discipline and his abundance of promises that he finds hard to fulfill. His sharp tongue at times hurts his children’s dignity, but his kindness of heart often wipes out his mistakes.

He is little given to jealousy because he is far from the spirit of possessiveness, whether over himself or others. Love in his view is more than a bodily bond. It is spiritual, mental and physical sharing together. His attraction for occasions is irresistible. He hates chasing after opportunities but accepts them gladly if they come without stubborn effort. It is said that this man’s duality makes him seek two loves at once, which does not mean he longs for two women at the same time. It sounds like a riddle, doesn’t it? In any case, it is hard for the Gemini man to be satisfied with a woman of little intelligence, and he will choose only one of wit, resourcefulness and flexibility. It is not hard for such a woman to grasp the secret of his nature and to appear in the way that pleases him and pleases his duality.

The Gemini Woman

Sweet, slender, eye-catching and ever-changing... this woman was made to work, to be present... Her age plays the greatest role in her life, for the adolescent Gemini differs from the young Gemini, and the young one from the grown lady... She has a cheerful personality full of vitality, and you rarely see her sad or demanding; her presence brings joy into the hearts of those around her, even if only for a time.

The changeable Gemini is somewhat selfish and very protective of her things and belongings, and thrifty to the point of miserliness at times, even though she is hospitable and strives to keep her house open. I do not know, shall we call this generosity? Or let us say it is a carefully calculated generosity... The Gemini woman is able to do more than one job because she knows no fatigue and is not the type to complain and grumble... In her first years of youth she is romantic, dreamy and always smiling, but after a few years you feel as though you are getting to know a new person, a realistic, serious one, who analyzes matters and explains things... She is cheerful, entertaining, quick-witted and keenly observant; she memorizes poems, reads philosophy and plunges into political topics. In addition, she is an excellent housewife and a first-rate society hostess. Her nerves are often tense, and her fears are many, as are her hobbies and the fields in which she excels.

The sociable Gemini may believe she will never fall in love... but in truth this charming girl is deeply emotional, even blazing with feeling, if she meets the right man, free-spirited and responsible at once, who satisfies her mind, heart and body together. If this girl loves, she is faithful and stands by her beloved with much courage and responsibility; indeed she encourages him and lends him a helping hand without letting him feel dependent... Most married Gemini women are first-class homemakers, for the Gemini woman hates neglect in the house and strives to keep it clean and striking, and you find her adding a new touch to it every day that reminds you a woman is femininity before everything else... Among the roles she both approves of and fears is that of motherhood. But in all cases she is an excellent mother who treats her children as friends without imposing restrictions and rules on them. She is firm at times and lenient at others, and she is fortunate to be able to win her children’s affections, seeing them settled near her, gazing at her and listening to her talk. Last but not least, this kind woman extends a helping hand whenever she can. Her fault is that she is short on patience, so she should train herself to settle down so as not to keep going round in an empty circle. Whatever her faults, her virtue is that she is exciting and entertaining, and whoever lives with her knows nothing of boredom. Yes, she is fickle and ever-changing, but isn’t that sweeter than being fixed in her personality and hobbies and not shining anew each day?

The Gemini Child

Before a family is blessed with a boy or girl born under Gemini, its members should first ask for health, energy and patience for themselves. For we must not forget that the Gemini child is governed by the planet Mercury, and that the ancient Greeks depicted their god Mercury with wings on his feet and a silver helmet on his head. This symbolic image applies to some extent to Gemini children of both sexes, and if one of them departs from it, it is because of other astrological influences unrelated to Gemini.

The Gemini child is the very emblem of perpetual motion and endless curiosity, and so their mother needs double the patience that any mother responsible for raising a child needs. Besides patience, the mother of a Gemini child needs physical stamina in order to keep up with them from place to place, for they move so fast that they seem to be in two places at once. People have tried to deal with this kind of child by inventing various means for them, such as harnesses, cages and the like. But it is hard to imagine a Gemini child bridled or imprisoned. They are the undisputed enemy of stillness, inertia and cramped places, loving movement, play, people, spacious places and plenty of toys, and they succeed in surrounding themselves with an atmosphere charged with noise, vitality and self-assertion. Changing these traits, which form the basis of their nature, is impossible despite all efforts that may be made. Even so, it remains the parents’ duty to accustom their child by every means and method to relaxation, calm and taking things slowly as far as possible, from the earliest stages of childhood.

Beyond that, the Gemini child enjoys early maturity, curiosity and quick reactions. They are without doubt the fastest of children to learn to read, the most skilled at memorizing and the best at recitation. Their sensitive, expressive hands are especially suited to certain occupations such as surgery, dentistry and watchmaking. They have a special aptitude for learning foreign languages and find it easy to master them when young if given the opportunity. They also show an inclination toward mechanical work and take great pleasure in practicing this hobby in a hands-on way.

The Gemini child loves imitation and embellishment. They mimic the people around them in a spirit of mockery and twist the facts, coloring them with some of their wide imagination. Some accuse them of lying and insist on punishing them, but their lying is no more than altering or coloring, as we said, born of their many dreams and fancies, and often they fall prey to them and wholly believe what they say. Rebuffing or punishing them is useless, and it is better to follow positive educational methods with them, encouraging them, for example, to give the right answer without adding or subtracting.

It remains to say that the Gemini child is short on patience and attention, distracted from the lesson by anything their senses fall upon, yet they learn at an unmatched speed once they gather and focus their thoughts. Even so, they remain shallow in depth and superficial in knowledge as a result of their impatience and restlessness. The Gemini girl enjoys a special popularity among her classmates and peers, and she is known for moving quickly from tears to laughter and back again.

In short, the Gemini child – especially for their mother – is a great spiritual nourishment, though a nourishment that at times strains her nerves. It seems that the presence of such a child in a family gives all its members a feeling of lasting youth and vitality.

The Gemini Manager

If the worker or employee in the service of a Gemini man could read his superior’s thoughts and foretell his expected behavior, his life would be true bliss. Since that is impossible, all we can say is: may God help the members of the company run by an employer of this unique kind. To show how hard it is to deal with this man, it is enough that he himself does not know the truth of his feelings, mood and expectations in the next moment, so how could others? He is the model of the man who shuts his eyes to a grave mistake one day and on the next turns the office upside down over a trivial slip.

This does not stop the Gemini from being a wonderful figure in leadership in every sense of the word, as a result of the many qualities he has and others lack. Even so, he has aspects that prevent him from keeping that role, among them his inclination to move and travel about and his dislike of closed places that impose on him a stillness that makes him truly miserable. For this reason, we find him preferring to leadership roles a lesser post such as attaché, advisor or vice president.

The employer born under Gemini is generally skilled in trading opinions, ideas and abstractions, quick to research and to carry out, neglecting marginal and unnecessary details and sticking to the heart of the matter. He refuses to hold fast to familiar traditions and customs and does not hesitate to impose his own style not only on the course of work but even on the arrangement of the office furniture. Curiously, despite this distinctive individualism of his nature, he rejects individualism in others and looks at them only through the general plan he draws from himself and his ideas. His opinions are changeable, and his positions are marked by ebb and flow. But his thinking remains always clear and well defined, which lets him discover points of weakness and error in the shortest possible time.

The Gemini man is also more rational than emotional, at least in appearance. In truth, his heart holds great reserves of love that draw many toward him, who fall victim to his irresistible charm. Despite surrounding himself with others and constantly seeking to merge and mingle with them, this person lives inside a distant cell shrouded in aloofness and coolness.

The Gemini man also has a sense of humor and mockery and a quick wit, and he responds to cheerful things more than to dark, oppressive ones. He is skilled at flirtation, and ensnares most of the secretaries and female employees who work with him, without the slightest seriousness or continuity, at least on his side.

If we wished to sum up this personality, we would say he is intelligent, an eloquent conversationalist, mentally alert, rarely flustered, swift to act and constantly on the move. His heart, on the whole, is free of envy or hatred, owing to his impatience and his lack of total concern for anyone.

The Gemini Employee

Speed is the factor that most governs the conduct of an employee born under Gemini. When they speak or move, they give the impression of a rocket launched. Added to this is another factor that distinguishes them from other employees: youthfulness, which colors their spirit, their appearance and all the deeds and words that come from them. Among their positive qualities are charm, attractiveness, culture, imagination and composure in the face of crises and problems, and among their negative traits are a lack of patience and cooperative spirit and grumbling at the monotony of work.

If this employee is to be used to best advantage, they should be entrusted with work that involves movement, travel and contact with large numbers of people. Confining them to a desk and fixed hours, by contrast, kills their ambition and sense of responsibility and turns them into a nervous, utterly miserable person. In other words, high ranks do not excite the Gemini employee as much as work that guarantees them complete freedom, even if it involves some injustice and unfairness.

Moreover, this curious employee is good at watching people, studying their qualities and uncovering their inner nature, which qualifies them to play the role of salesperson to perfection, especially since they have tremendous persuasive power, and what excites them most is competition and work with the character of intellectual rather than material adventure. Their fault is lack of perseverance or repetition, even in cases of success. By nature they are chaste and honorable, and if they stray from that, it is because of their nature, which rejects convention and custom; this rebelliousness may bring them to commit theft or forgery, although the possibility is remote. As for the Gemini woman, it is said that her speed in shorthand and typing is proverbial. She does administrative work well in general and succeeds in reception and hospitality posts especially, thanks to the flexibility and tact for which she is known.

The Gemini – male or female – is skilled in sports, preferring games played in the open air and in spacious places. This hobby serves as a means of venting their familiar nervousness and vitality. On the other hand, physical exertion benefits them and helps them overcome the insomnia that afflicts them now and then. This person also needs deep, long sleep in order to greet the day with the necessary energy and readiness.

It is futile to bargain with those born under Gemini over money matters; if they set their mind on something – however impossible it may seem – they reach it thanks to their intelligence and persuasive power. It would not be surprising for one of them to ask their boss for double their salary, for example. In that case the poor boss has only two possibilities: to yield, or to watch the petitioner leave the office for good.

Where a Gemini is found, there is merriment and laughter, pleasant conversation and love stories. Of course their traits are many and subject to change and variation. If one wished to describe them truthfully, one would say they are a person with adolescent feelings and a seasoned mind.
