How to Recognize Someone Born Under Pisces

A calm personality, at times as if from another world. The Pisces native walks quietly, with a wilting face and a dreamy, faraway gaze. The eyes are generally narrow and the features small, and the lips are either thin or full. The skin is soft, and the build is closer to short than to tall.

They talk about their dreams and take pride in them, make light of great causes, care about their own day and leave tomorrow’s worries to tomorrow.

They are quickly affected by criticism and sensitive; their anger is short-lived, as if they had never been angry.

General Traits of Pisces

What is easier for an ordinary fish: swimming with the current or going against it? Going with the current is easier, of course, not only for the fish of the oceans but for those born under Pisces, who belong to the family of fish, even if only in name. In going with the current of life, the person born under Pisces, watched over by Neptune, god of the seas, finds happiness and peace of mind, while walking in the opposite direction is an arduous matter that their lazy nature and love of an easy life cannot bear. “I want to live” is the principle they believe in and try to follow as far as they can.

If this person were told that the world is collapsing, or that famine is spreading across the earth, or that pollution will soon wipe out humanity, they would answer with no more than a laugh or a yawn. They are content with their present, indifferent to their tomorrow; they aim at neither money nor power and ask of their world nothing more than its sweetness. And since they have little greed or avarice, nothing moves them to action or violence. What they do in response to challenge and provocation is a sharp tongue and bitter words. Their anger is shallow and short-lived, like the circles in water when a stone is thrown in, which soon fade as the surface regains its stillness and clarity.

The Pisces native finds rest and refreshment in drinking liquids such as water, and sees the world through rose-colored glasses that paint everything beautiful and wonderful. This does not mean they are ignorant of the reality of life with its pain and bitterness, but they prefer to escape into dream and illusion, convincing themselves that this stance is exactly right. To put it more plainly, the Pisces native is pulled between two questions or two ideas and must choose between them. They are forced either to float on the surface of the water and know the reality of the world, or to dive into the depths, far from their basic aims. The truth is that they often hesitate because they cannot see clearly, like the fish that looks to its sides instead of looking ahead.

The Pisces native, who belongs to the last of the signs, as we know, symbolizes death and eternity, while Aries, the first of the signs, symbolizes birth. It can be said that this last sign is a distillation of the signs that came before it, meaning that the person born in it sometimes shows the knowledge of Virgo, the judgment of Libra, the cheerfulness of Cancer, the generosity of Sagittarius, the frankness of Leo, the sense of duty of Capricorn, the impetuosity of Aries, the analytical power of Aquarius, the laziness of Taurus and the quickness of Gemini, all of it or some of it at once. In addition, the Pisces native has constant movement and an ability to transform themselves. This special trait, denied to the other signs, lets them step out of themselves and so survey past, present and future in one stroke, which explains to some extent how they foretell things before they happen. In some people’s view they are the truest proof of the philosophy of reincarnation that many believe in.

In this person’s opinion they are immortal, which leads them to neglect their health and comfort for the sake of others. Among the things that do them serious harm are painkillers, stimulants, exhaustion, other people’s problems that always pursue them, and some bad habits of food and drink. What may make up for their physical weakness is the extraordinary strength they draw from self-suggestion. They can convince themselves that there is nothing to fear from any matter or person.

Despite their innate shyness, the Pisces native succeeds in stage acting, though they are delicate and easily affected by criticism. They have an astonishing memory, a refined temperament and an aesthetic sense that lets them enter the door of writing and composition, in prose and verse. And since they have a great faculty for distinguishing good from evil and can resist every kind of temptation, they succeed in becoming a man of religion or a mystic pointed out by everyone. In all cases they are zealous on behalf of the sick, the poor and the needy, making no distinction between one person and another, and never judging or taking anyone to account. Their temperament is a hidden weapon they use when needed. Sometimes they laugh to hide their tears, or make others laugh without their own lips ever ceasing to smile. Their indifference is a curtain for their weakness, and their show of toughness is only an outer shell.

This person’s nature is hard to reach, built on illusion and escape from reality. It is difficult for anyone else to grasp it unless they use a great deal of imagination and know in advance that the symbol is water, with its greenness, dampness, mud and constant movement, and that their deep secret is buried on the ocean floor, where only their planet Neptune knows of it.

The Pisces Man

Luck sometimes passes close by the Pisces man and finds him dreaming or gazing at a star shining in the vault of heaven. It leaves him and hurries toward other people, and the dreamer does not realize he has let a chance of real success slip away. Is that called weakness or failure? Neither one nor the other, because this man, if he chose to pursue his livelihood, could reach the highest summits of success thanks to the intuition he inherited from the god Neptune.

Among the most prominent features of the Pisces man’s personality is a curiosity free of ill intent, of astonishment, or of passing judgment on others’ conduct. He sometimes chatters before he thinks and so reveals certain secrets about others without meaning to, yet in return he refuses to disclose anything, whatever the motives and circumstances, if he is asked to keep silent. He speaks slowly, thinks calmly and tries not to meddle in what does not concern him, but other people’s problems pursue him in spite of himself. The reason may be his gift for listening and his ability to absorb pains and sorrows as if they were his own. His friends and relatives should look after his health, not burden him beyond what he can bear, and understand his need for rest, silence and solitude to regain the energy and vitality he has lost on their account.

This man is shy and sensitive, quickly hurt, and requires admiration and encouragement from others because he believes his abilities are limited. Even so, he has a great aptitude for yoga, magic, astrology, reincarnation and the other esoteric sciences. He is able to read thoughts, know what will happen, and sometimes pretend the opposite of what he holds within. In possessing certain secrets he feels comfort and reassurance.

This man expects complete devotion and fidelity from the woman he loves, and at the same time refuses to give up his many friends of both sexes, whom he serves by every means and at all times, which stirs his wife’s jealousy and resentment despite herself. He greatly admires beauty and does not hesitate to follow women with glances that express his feeling and emotion, even if this leads to misunderstanding between him and the one he loves. The Pisces man goes through periods of anxiety and gloom whose source he does not know, and he is forced to withdraw, waiting for a suggestion from his wife that will change his clouded mood. He is also a spendthrift who can save only with time and with the help of his wife, who can be the ideal example in this regard.

Children find in this man more than a father. He is the friend who accompanies his children on outings and sea trips and teaches them swimming, rowing, yoga and more; the kind-hearted, gentle-natured educator who listens to problems and tragedies with his whole being. Rigidity and harshness he does not do well and does not want to use, and he prefers to leave them to his wife.

This person agrees to give up anything except his dreams, which are like his very soul. So if his wife wants to keep his love forever and prevent the destruction of their happiness together, she must not mock these dreams in any way. Instead, she can encourage him to turn all of them, or part of them, into a constructive and positive reality.

The Pisces Woman

The more women advance and grow in freedom, the more popular the woman born under Pisces becomes. She may be the only one of her sex who still refuses glory and fame and dreams only of a man who will look after her and protect her. The truth is that nothing makes her happier than leaning on a strong shoulder and listening to a clear voice that draws up plans and sets goals. When she loves, she believes with certainty and faith that the one she loves can rule the world with his brilliant mind and his strong arms. He, in turn, feeds on this admiration and trust and becomes in fact stronger and better than before.

The Pisces woman is gentle and peaceable and makes others feel she is a shore of safety and an oasis of calm. She is a female in every sense of the word, however times, circumstances and occasions differ. When she talks with a man, he at once feels a delicious wariness run through his limbs and loosen his tight nerves, and he imagines himself, depending on the season and the hour, lying either in the shade of a tree far from all noise and movement or beside a fireplace warming him with its pleasant fire. She does not press the man about anything or hurry him in any matter; all she wants from him is to live with her in harmony and peace.

It is possible that after marriage she will show improper behavior that did not appear before. Her tongue may slip into biting remarks, for example, or she may start to grumble and complain, but faults like these are no longer remembered when measured against her other qualities, such as tenderness, sweetness, femininity, good adaptability and more. Though she sometimes loses most of these great qualities as a result of strong, successive shocks, and then acts blindly in a way that gradually destroys her happiness and her life. It may be noted that addiction to alcohol and drugs is a kind of weapon this woman turns to when forced to face the treachery of time. That is for extreme cases; in ordinary life the Pisces woman has intelligence, evasiveness, reserve and mystery, though all these traits, except intelligence, are merely masks that hide behind them shyness, confusion, lack of self-confidence and quickness to break.

Before marriage the Pisces woman pretends not to need a man while longing for someone to look after her and ward off dangers. But after marriage she puts her partner in a place that even her children, whom she adores, do not reach, although she is a virtuous, tender mother who is good at listening and sharing but lacks the firmness necessary for raising children. It is known of her that she reserves her sympathy and tenderness for the weak or disfigured creature among her children.

Finally, this woman hates working outside the home and holds to holidays and occasions, when she gives gifts to the members of her family and expects the same in return. She spends generously, almost to the point of extravagance, but makes do with little if circumstances force her to. Whatever her material and social situation, she is considered the model of the true woman, indeed of femininity in its entirety.

The Pisces Child

From the first time the child born under Pisces opens their eyes, a strange enchantment shows in them, suggesting an extraordinary child who has descended from a distant planet on a moonbeam. When the mother gazes at the child’s rosy face, delicate skin and sweet dimples, her heart fills with joy, and she wishes their childhood would stretch on so she could enjoy it as long as possible. And years later she is bound to discover one day that heaven has indeed granted her wish and left her child a large share of the dreams and fancies of a happy childhood.

From the start the Pisces child shows a dislike for the reality and monotony of life, and a love of acting in order to escape into another world, more beautiful and more blissful. This inclination in fact makes the child easier to raise and care for. If the mother wants to persuade them of something, she must enter with them into an imaginary play in which they forget themselves, and they will then follow her orders willingly and by choice. For example, she can pretend to be a gentle fairy who has come to sprinkle sleep on their eyes, and they will sleep; or claim that the spoon is a wandering bird and that their mouth is the nest, and they will open it and snap up the food, and so on. Any approach with a touch of strangeness is still better for them than the routine children usually follow. In any case they refuse to resort to violence and screaming to get what they want, and instead use roundabout methods with a great deal of intelligence and wisdom.

This child has a pressing need for appreciation and encouragement because of little self-confidence and a belief that their abilities are limited. They are sensitive, shy and quick to break, but able to hide the truth about themselves behind a curtain of secrecy and pretense. And although they are skilled at twisting reality, they insist they are honest and do not lie. Their lying is in any case of the innocent kind that comes from fear of laying facts bare. That is one side; on the other, at school they are a source of bewilderment and surprise to their teachers, because they reject the usual methods of learning and follow a method of their own alone, whose worth is proven with time. They are also an artistic child who appreciates music and dance and amazes people with their lightness and grace, and they are strongly drawn to warriors, space scientists, great musicians and sculptors. They prefer the company of adults to that of the young, and yet they shy away from duty and responsibility.

The Pisces child lives in a strange state of reincarnation, talking about people who died before they were born and narrating certain events just before they happen. The danger, the whole danger, is to meet this phenomenon with mockery, blame or the accusation of lying, because time and events often prove the truth of this remarkable child’s vision. On the other hand, they must not be left prey to their illusions and fancies without constructive intervention from their family and educators. Their case can be handled with gentleness, patience and love until they are able to adapt to the world they live in and succeed in turning part of their dreams into a tangible reality that holds their happiness and stability.

The Pisces Manager

It is rare to find men like this at the head of businesses. No wonder, for he prefers to follow his nature in other fields such as writing, free trade, creative arts, acting, the priesthood and mysticism, even mere travel. Even so, he seems very successful in the role of public relations director, media director or television network head, where he can spread the great ideas inspired by his boundless imagination. But he differs from those born under the other signs who hold similar posts in that he will not state reality openly without allusion, not because he is a liar or deceiver by nature but because he is certain that the truth is bitter and that society finds it hard to accept it with the necessary courage.

This person can stand out as the director of a theater, a film company or a dance institute, or as a film director. His extraordinary gifts qualify him to be among the most brilliant researchers, investigators, directors of musical ensembles, travel companies, charitable societies, social clubs and hotels. In other words, his sensitive, giving nature prepares him to be a guardian and guide of humanity more than it prepares him to pick the fruits of glory and wealth. By nature he hates purely material gain, just as he hates the many responsibilities of a limited kind.

Whatever role he plays, the Pisces man remains harmless and free of hostility, even when he has lost his nerves and composure. He usually contents himself with letting fly a few biting remarks and then returns to his original calm and courtesy. At work he takes moderate positions halfway between complete permissiveness and narrow-horizoned traditionalism. When work bores him, whether in its progress or in those in charge of it, his mind drifts far away and only his body remains present. When the opposite happens, he listens with his whole being, showing complete readiness to adopt the ideas and projects presented to him. He loves traveling not only in dreams but in reality too, and for this reason keeps a bag fully packed and ready.

The boss born under Pisces goes through sharp psychological crises whose essence no one grasps, but which soon vanish without noticeable trace, although the best remedy for them is to leave him alone and not burden him with talk or even with merely appearing before him. In ordinary times, by contrast, he seeks contact with everyone who works with him, appreciating especially those with fertile imaginations and inventive ideas. This does not mean he forsakes the others, for he knows by instinct that the balance of business requires realistic people alongside the imaginative.

This person is open-handed to the point of embarrassment before requests. He cannot refuse to grant raises and bonuses whatever the work conditions, and so he seeks to put this responsibility on another employee better able than he to protect the firm’s financial interests. It remains to be said that he does not hold back from showing his admiration for the fair sex despite his esteem and loyalty to his wife, and that he does not hesitate to conceal his extraordinary gifts so that none of those working with him need mock them or doubt them.

The Pisces Employee

For the Pisces man to succeed in any job, he must be entrusted with responsibilities that suit his delicate nature and an imagination able to break through all borders and horizons. If jobs of this kind are not available to him, he becomes lazy and uninterested in what is around him, whereas when he is content he is an unmatched employee, whether in drive, speed of execution, or focus on the important aspects of every matter and issue.

This employee is shy before his colleagues and everyone who works with him, because of his great secrecy about the truth of his nature and aims. But that does not stop him from doing his duty to the fullest, provided he is content with the nature of his work, as we mentioned before. In the job he takes the fish’s stance toward water. As soon as he senses that the atmosphere has turned into a foul, muddy swamp, he moves away from it, heading for a clearer and livelier stream.

Where does the man born under Pisces generally work? He works in all artistic circles, from theater, cinema and television to museum, dance hall and music institute, and sometimes in scientific fields that deal with mathematics, engineering or electronics, though even there he practices the work in the abstract manner for which he is known. He succeeds in teaching, thanks to his capacity for absorbing and diving into the depths of souls, and in hospitals, charitable societies and social clubs, where he outdoes many in the art of nursing, care and guidance. But his problem in this area is that he absorbs other people’s problems and tragedies, which sometimes affects him physically and psychologically.

This employee is affected, negatively or positively, by the atmosphere of work, such as the furniture, the color and so on. For example, green in all its shades makes him happy, as do flowers, sweet music and words of encouragement now and then. On this basis he does his job in the best way, observing traditions and regulations and resisting as far as he can his inclination toward dreams and fantasies. The female employee born under Pisces is considered more attentive to duty, and she can also be a keeper of secrets, a counselor and a protector of all the staff of both sexes. It is not unlikely that she will tell their fortunes from time to time by reading palms, coffee cups or cards.

The Pisces employee of either sex rarely blames or criticizes others, yet is sensitive to criticism in turn. If upset with a superior or colleague, sorrow shows on his face and he withdraws out of sight. On the other hand, he does not care much about money and is content with the salary he deserves, without greed for a raise. He spends a great deal and saves little. And although he has little greed, he is sometimes forced to leave his job for reasons other than money. In any case he is the kind who does not give others the chance to dispense with him, but does it of his own accord. Finally, since he dislikes heavy responsibilities, he need not look up to those of higher standing, and so he does not know what envy and rivalry mean.
